Yesterday, during lunch at work, I finally plunged into the beginning of Chapter Ten. I got sick of trying to decide which way it should go. Should Gorok and Wulf come back to the compound, only to find that food poisoning has hit the mages? Or should they find the mages falling asleep at the dinner tables? Or should this be the chapter where Jupe ends up orbed? Or maybe a horrible creature should attack...

I finally plunged in and had Gorok and Wulf sitting at the dinner table and then noticing that some of the mages are falling asleep. They are beginning to feel woozy, too. I thought this could be an escape attempt -- or a faked escaped attempt by Kensin. ("They'll think I'm no longer here and let their guard down.") Robert pointed out it could be a robbery, someone breaking into the prison. Argh, why didn't I think of that?! :) This could have great repurciosions if they find Kensin awake, and at first tackle him because they think he is the culprit, and then, as they're struggling with him, all three see a nondescript mage (from outside!) sneaking down the road. So they're forced to work together with Kensin. For now.

Maybe something that happens during this incident can lead to the incidence that sparks Jupe into trying the spell that gets him in trouble. (The attempted burglary leads to the death of his boyfriend, and he strikes out?)
