How to Join the Copyediting List Serv (well I think it's fun!)

Well I managed to make a few more edits even after I posted my update, so I figured I'd do another short update. I'm up to mage 246 of 455 in the edits, more than halfway through. Right up to the part where Yarin steals Koura as a prank. Woot! Not only that, but the end of the chapter is in sight, with the mage duel/sensual bath chapter to come next.

By the way, I started reading a Bertrice Small novel over this week. I never thought I'd do that. I always thought she was one of those romance authors I just didn't "get." I had tried one of her historicals years ago, and I couldn't get far into it at all. (I think the term "mighty lance" did me in...) But then I asked for help remembering the title of a novel I'd read years ago, and when I said that the heroine was kidnapped by a villain without a penis who thought he was raping her (talk about a delusion), several people said it was Bertrice Small's "Enchantress Mine." At first I thought this couldn't be. I was sure it was a Johanna Lindsey book, or maybe one of Catherine Coulter's Viking romances. But when I read the reviews of "Enchantress Mine," I realized they were right!

So I got a copy and started rereading it, and of course, I went on to buy a few more of her books along the way. Maybe I just appreciate the historical aspects of her novels more now that I realize how bloody hard it is to get the settings right (especially as there is so much disinformation about what "Medieval" people were like). Or maybe it's time for a breath of fresh air, and because her books break some of the hard and fast rules of romance, they certainly do provide breathes of fresh air. Entire lungfuls in fact.
