Evil Writer Strikes Again
I finally got to the scene where Brodin, Sutton, and Guy are on a barge, heading toward the capital. They think they are going to retrieve the body of Moonstone, but in reality, he is alive, and they will learn this in the next chapter or so when they see him on a barge going in the other direction. :-)
But for this chapter, I needed something interesting to happen. I had already tormented by characters by putting them in a barge that was transporting giant piles of bat guano to the capital for use as fertilizer. (It's dried, so it supposedly doesn't smell that bad, but the dust is awful.)
Brodin locks Guy in the cabin for security. They lock Guy in the cabin, and when they leave him in there, Guy ends up prying up the floorboards to try to get out of the cabin. And of course... he ends up falling into the giant piles of bat guano! And poor Brodin has to drop into the cargo hold to save him.
My characters hate me now. Except Guy -- once he was rescued, the captain of the barge "adopted" him and carried him off into his private cabin to have him bathed. Guy is going to be spoiled for the rest of the trip. Oh, and don't worry, Guy is of age.
