Moonstone Was a Baaad Boy
It shouldn't be much of a surprise that sometimes, scenes don't turn out the way you expect. Many of my best (and funniest and most outlandish) scenes have come about because I was writing a scene, and somehow thought "Well why doesn't he do this
here?" Sometimes writers get the impression that their characters are grabbing them and saying, "Ahem! We have a better idea, so we're going to change your scene."
Moonstone (with his new haircut), Zakira, and Rowena found their barge. It shouldn't be much of a surprise that they managed to find a barge with a leather-clad captain and first mate. What was something of a surprise was when Zakira and Rowena pretended to be two well-born women off on a tryst with their pretty boy servant. But the real surprise was when they all had dinner with the captain and the first mate, and the captain started treating Moonstone like a servant, ordering him to serve him, etc. When he dropped a napkin on the floor and ordered Moonstone to pick it up, something happened in Moonstone -- who is a dominant bottom, after all. Moonstone... well let's just say he ... took control of the situation. ;-) Even if he realized his actions might put his disguise in jeopardy. (My excuse is that he had to do something or risk weakening his magic, which is based on his preference.)
Then, the following scene involved Zakira doing the worst thing imaginable to Moonstone. She ignored
him. Gasp, how will he cope with that?! On top of that, Blackwood's ghost appeared on the barge and told them that Brodin's barge was heading in the opposite direction. I'm still not sure how they will handle all of this. But I think it will actually be a relief to write about Brodin and good ol' Sutton for a while, even if it means writing a couple of scenes involve Guy. :-P
